Two Gazan children, hit by a drone missile, were transferred to an Israeli hospital alongside their fathers. The Real News' Lia Tarachansky spoke with Muhammad Zaza, 14, who survived the attack but sustained significant burns and wounds and his father Ataf in Kaplan hospital in Rehovot. Tarachansky also spoke with Adnan, the father of Ibrahim Zaza, 12, Muhammad's cousin who was also severely injured in the attack. Ibrahim lost both his hands and remains in a coma. Because of Israel's non-association with Hamas, such patients' hospital bills are typical paid for by the Palestinian Authority. Lt. Col. From children's shows to national war drills, a discussion on militarism in Israeli society and gender equality in the army. ==== On Wednesday, June 22nd, Israel held the largest war exercise in its history. The Real News' Lia Tarachansky interviewed Rela Mazali, the founder of New Profile, an organization working to demilitarize Israeli society, and Alex Cohn, a war resister who served five months for objecting to serve in the army. Clinton, Goldstone and true cost of the occupation
Hever: The Israeli government is hiding the true cost of the occupation even from itself After US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's visit to Jerusalem this weekend, the US-mediated peace talks threaten to collapse. Meanwhile Israel ramps up its occupation of the Palestinian Territories. The Israeli daily Ha'aretz reported last Friday that at least 11 locations within settlement colonies in the West Bank are escalating construction in order to alter "facts on the ground." In October, the joint Israeli-Palestinian organization, Alternative Information Center, organized a conference on the economy of the Israeli occupation in Bethlehem. The Real News' Lia Tarachansky attended and spoke to the AIC's Shir Hever about the real costs of maintaining Israel's occupation. Shir Hever is an economic researcher in the Alternative Information Center, a Palestinian-Israeli organization active in Jerusalem and Beit-Sahour. Researching the economic aspect of the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, some of his research topics include international aid to the Palestinians and Israel, the effects of the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories on the Israeli economy, and the boycott, divestment and sanctions campaigns against Israel. He is a frequent speaker on the topic of the economy of the Israeli occupation. http://www.youtube.com/user/TheRealNews http://therealnews.com/t/index.php

Palestinian "Freedom Riders" Challenge Segregation
Drawing a comparison to American civil rights fighters, Palestinian activists boarded Israeli settler buses in the West Bank. ==== On Tuesday six Palestinian activists boarded Israeli busses in an attempt to challenge the system of segregation in the West Bank. They were arrested at Hizmeh checkpoint, interrogated by Israel's internal intelligence agency, the Shabak, and released. In the West Bank, segregation is both visible with the separation wall, fence, and separate cities for Israelis and Palestinians and invisible with separate legal and security systems for the two peoples. The West Bank and the Gaza Strip have been under Israeli military occupation since 1967. The Real News' Lia Tarachansky spoke with Fesal Al Hatib, a Palestinian living in Hizmeh, a village divided in half by a road and the Wall. Photo Credit: Anne Paq, ActiveStills.org

Saturday saw the largest demonstration in Israel's history in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and other cities. Hundreds of thousands of Israelis poured onto the streets to demonstrate against the high housing prices and rising costs of commodities. Meanwhile Israel's Palestinian citizens who make up 20% of the population join the movement that began on July 14th and became known as J14. The Real News' Lia Tarachansky spoke to Dror K. Half Million March in Israel חצי מיליון מוחים בישראל
Israelis skeptic of gov't- appointed committee to look into protest demands, organize biggest protest in country's history מפגינים בספק שוועדת טרכטנברג שמונתה ע"י הממשלה תצליח לעמוד בדרישותיהם. ארגנו את המחאה הגדולה בתולדות המדינה ==== Israel's "March of the Million" brought out more people than any other protest in Israel's history. Meanwhile the government has decided to keep quiet, only appointing Professor Manuel Trachtenberg to head a committee to look into the demands of the J14 movement. Started on July 14, this march was the sixth in a row, and while many on the street have different ideas about how to move ahead, most have little faith in the Trachtenberg committee. The Real News' Lia Tarachansky reports from Tel Aviv and talks to protesters about how to move forward.
